Adapter issue?

Having an issue with internet on one of my family members desktops. It has a wireless adapter. Internet was working fine one night then the next morning I am told it magically does not connect to the router. When i try to connect I get limited connectivity. Its running vista basic so when I try to diagnose I get 2 options that say "Automatically get new IP setting for Network Adapter" which when I choose a load bar comes up and never finishes and just gives me a connection unsuccessful message. The other says "Restart Network Adapter" and does nothing. Ive switched out the adapter with different ones that work on other desktops and I did a factory restore. Wtf mate?

When you say factory restore, you mean reinstalling windows correct? Some users get this confused with system restore.

Remove the security on the router to see if you can connect. If you can, then its a security issue. However, this is a known issue with vista at times.

First, try unchecking Ipv6 in your adapter properties. See if this youtube video will help you.

Well I tried the IPv6 method but no go. I don't have access to the router we share with our landlord. So I guess I have to ask him tomorrow.
