adapter question

Hi everyone

First of all, I have a Dell Inspiron 2200, which im very happy with. Now, I have a prob. My adapter is broken, and ive allready ordered a new. But seriously, I cant wait till end of the week with using my laptop, so I took my sisters adapter and squeezed it in the plug in my computer. I turned on the power and it showed the charging sign. "Great I thought."

Then I started looking at my and my sisters adapter, and I realized that my sisters adapter has an output of 20 v -- 3.25 a and my computer needs: 19 v --- 3.16 a.

Is it dangerous that I use my sisters, or not? Its just a couple of days that i need it... but just wanted to read some experts comments

As long as they are both AC or DC, both have the same polarity(+ on the plugs tip, - on the outside, or vise versa) it should be alright. It's really only volts you need to worry about, and most adaptors don't put out what they're rated at.

no problem if fits perfectly in ur laptop's socket, by the way i use to hav a DELL 2200 till fews months ago, i really loved the machine. goodluck

It's really only volts you need to worry about, and most adaptors don't put out what they're rated at.

You could try testing it with a voltmeter, but I really wouldn't worry about it if it shows that the battery is charging. 1v over is very little.
