Adapter to use DVD drive?

I recently salvaged parts off of a Dell Inspiron 3647 desktop, and one part was a DVD Writer Model SH-216DB. I want to get a usb adapter so I can hook it up and use it for a computer as an external dvd drive. Will something like this work:

Also, will it need the extra power cable along with the usb cable to work, or can it work alone with the usb cable?

It appears that the connector on that is different than the one on the DVD drive, as it doesn't have the pins, but rather the "L" shape shown in figure 3

Thats cause the picture only shows the IDE end.. the sata end is on the flip side!

It has IDE and sata connections. I have both adapters

I wouldn't bother adapting an old ass IDE drive when you can get a modern external for about the same price as the adapter
