Add a HDD

I want to add a second hdd it's a sata and i already have a controller card. They told me run OS again wich is windows xp then to hit F3 to and from there on it will do it itself... but i have presses the key and it does not go thru.... is this the way to do this?

Who told you this? I have no freaking clue what they are trying to get you to do... All you should have to do is connect the drive and possibly format it once you boot to Windows. To format, it's just like formatting a floppy disk or anything like that.

Worst case, you MIGHT have to go though computer management and assign a drive letter, but I doubt that. Also, sometimes channels are disabled in the bios. You might want to check that out and be sure all SATA channels are set to AUTO.

if you dont want to install windows on your sata plug it in turn your pc on you might have to install the sata drivers from your mobo cd possibly called via, when you go to my computer you might not be able to see the hdd if this is the case right click my computer left click manage select disk management and you will see it there right click if format it (ntfs) this may take a while when finished you will see it under my computer ready to use

Well i can't see the hdd in management
also i want to thank both of you for replying...
what else should i try?
this mobo is not new... it's kinda old i don't even think they will make sata drivers for this motherboard...
my computer does see the controller card what it's not seeing it's the hdd :/
