Added 2 gig of memory, Vista subscore goes down

Hey all,

I have had my Asus G1s less than a week and decided to upgrade the memory by an additional 2 gigs. Thus I have 3 gig total (1gig DDR PCS2-5300 667MHZ, and 2gig DDR PCS-5300 667MHZ)

My overall Vista memory score went to 4.6 from an original 4.8 with just the 2 gigs. Am I missing something here? Should I just disregard it?

Also, is there anyway to check a system to see if it has the intel turbo memory?

Thanks!

Sara

Chances are you lost some RAM bandwidth because you have an odd amount of RAM. Dual channel usually requires that you have mathcing sized RAM sticks.

Vista calculates RAM performance by "memory operations per second", not necessarily by the amount of RAM. As cromewell said, when you went from 2GB to 3GB you lost dual-channel support, which is why your score dropped.

Thanks for the answers!

So, if I bought another 2 gigs, bringing me to 4 then I would be back to dual channel?

Also, this intel turbo memory thing is bothering me, I am supposed to have it on this laptop, but it seems slower than my older gateway.

Anyway,

Cheers!

Sara
