Added 3rd GTX 570, Question..

So I finally got the replacement cooling fan I needed for my 'dual fan' 570 GPU, and decided to use it as a dedicated PhysX card.

So I'm just wondering, I got my dual GTX 570's (2.5GB) in SLI, and now this 3rd GTX 570 (1.28GB) as the PhysX.

I'm running my Corsair HX850, is this enough PSU for the 3rd card?

I dedicated the 3rd card in Nvidia panel to PhysX and thus far its fine..anything I should be aware of?

Should I even use this 3rd card?
 
Wow, I cant believe your actually able to run 3 570's on that HX850. I wouldnt believe that it would hold up in any demanding situation, like hard core gaming or stress test.

That 570 is waay overkill for a dedicated PhysX.I would just 3-way SLI them, you would get more out of that 3rd 570 in 3-way SLI, than in PhysX mode.

IMHO, I would take out that 3rd 570 untill you upgraded that PSU, to atleast 1kw.
 
If you have two 2560MB cards and you add a 1280MB card, you will be limited to 1280MB of VRAM. I'd use it for PhysX in this situation. Or just sell it.
 
Yah, I know its overkill but I had it here for a few months and just got it working again as my 75mm fans finally came to repair it.

I figured I might need a bigger PSU, but I also dont have a 3-way bridge here/ plus i cant do 3 way sli since the memory is differnt

Is there a benefit to using the 1.28GB 570 for dedicated phys-x or is it pointless.

Agreed. Sell it for around $250ish(used of course),than buy a GTX 550Ti for $120 and pocket $130.This way you wouldnt have to upgrade your PSU to compensate that 3rd 570. And I believe that the 550Ti will perform just as good as a 570 in PyhsX mode.

Run some benchmarks and see if it actually helps as a physx card, and try it as a three-way SLI.

By the way, you could just donate that 570 to me...

I cant do 3-way SLI, since that cards are different memory.

I tried to run 3dmark and its corrupted for some reason..

Donate to you eh,? You better plead your case.

Ummm, I'm a poor college student who likes lots of graphics cards? :D

Actually, with coolbits, you can set the 2 other cards at the 1280GB memory size:

But that depends if you need the extra vRam or not. And you'll need to get a bigger PSU, too.

Are you using 3Dmark11? If yes and it still doesn't work, try it on unigine heaven.

An HX850 is just fine for three 570's. Stop telling him he needs a better PSU. The PSU has 6 PCIe cables for a reason, it's a beast PSU meant for tri sli. Is it maxxed? With a 2600k at 5ghz, yeah probably....can it handle running max all day long? Absolutely.

570 for physX is pointless. There's very few games that use physX, it's a gimmick. So that only adds to the fact that a 570 for physX would never be stressed and thats all the better for the PSU being able to handle it.

You would be better off to get a gtx550 Ti as others have mentioned, it's a beast for PhysX.....if you really even need it.

I'm really only thinking to use the 3rd 570, cause I have it sitting here.

I will be building a second computer so perhaps I'll use it in that build down the road
 
Yes, your 12v rail has 840 watts available...which is underrated but....

Three 570's pull about 650w with all at 100% load...so you have 190w left for the CPU which is enough. But the fact that all 3 GPU's will never be under 100% load, nor will your CPU ever be under 100% really, your 850 is plenty. But even on the insanely off chance that they are, the PSU can still handle it.

Thanks for the education man, I really had no clue so it saves me from buying a ridiculous 1000W or 1200W
