Adding another harddrive

I have a spare 80 gb harddrive lying around and I was thinking on making use of it. I currently have a 250 gb harddrive with windows 7 on it. I was thinking that if i was to install windows xp or 7 on the 80gb harddrive, i can keep each for separate tasks, like 1 for gaming and other for sensitive banking information. Now, the only question is that lets say i get a keylogger or virus as i am playing mmorpg games or any other game on the 80 Gb harddrive, is it possible for it to transfer to the 250 gb harddrive or will it only stay in the 80 GB one. I read that it can only transfer if operating system is the same but i am not sure how correct this statement truely is. Please give me your thoughts and which operating system you believe i should put in order to avoid virus/keyloggers from transferring.

I think it can be transfer.Since your Other hard drive will also be detected as a partition.A virus can erase the other partition, but if the application needs to be installed it won't be installed in the secondary OS.
It all depends on the coding of the virus/worm.

Correct me if i am wrong.

my self i would set the 80 gig as a slave for backup. Say pictures, documents etc. I have a small extended drive on the 500 gig drive with windows 7. i back up on both. i will not lose both in the same day. If you have windows 7 you can backup, sync or use briefcase.
