running windows 7, 64 bit. using gigabyte MA790X-UD4 mobo, phenom x4 9750 cpu, dual 4850x2 gpus and origionally had a kingston hyperx 4gb ram kit (2x2gb) KHX8500D2K2/4G. i just went back to the same store i purchased that ram from and bought an identical kit to increase my ram to 8gb. pc posts fine then hangs when loading windows. running the system repair utility also hangs when looking for problems. memtest also hangs at about 10% total. removing the ram and the pc boots into win7 fine.
have i bought dodgy ram? or are the slots stuffed? i blew them out with compressed air (tinned) so shouldnt of been dirty or anything. or do i need to change anything in the bios? like turning dual channel on/off? i generally avoid playing with bios as i've killed pcs in the past that way... so if i need to tweak anything there please walk me through it lol
