Just bought this laptop while im in AIT for the Army. Trying to get as much out of it as possible for gaming because I am limited with what I can do here. It came with 2x4gb 1333 ddr3.

Im reading the max supported memory is 8gb. Can I buy 2 more sticks of 2gb and instal them in the extra two slots? Or can I just buy 4x2gb and replace the current ram completely and only utilize 2 of the 4 slots?

What ram do you recommend for gaming? Thanks

ASUS website says this:

DDR3 1333/1066 MHz SDRAM,2 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion up to 16 G SDRAM (Quad Core),2 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion up to 8 G SDRAM (Dual Core)

I have an i7 so can i run 16gb?

I don't think you need extra RAM if you already got 8GB. I don't think extra RAM would increase performance.

4gb is fine, you only need more if you're planning on launching a rocket using your computer and still 4gb would be plenty.

im just gonna go ahead and do the ssd for now. gotta save up for sli 570's for the desktop

You are saying here that it came with 8 gigs....Did it? Else the ssd isn't a bad idea. You'll see an awesome boost in speed, not for actual gaming though.
