wen i get my new comp i want to add my old hdd to it, should i scan it with McAfee then add it, add it and then scan it with McAfee on my new HDD or both, any other recommendations? also, not to sound dumb but how do i add my old hdd to just access files from it, not boot, set as slave?

Your not planning on using the OS that is currently on the old hard drive are you? If you are, then forget about it, it won't work. You will need to reformat it and reinstall windows.
If that hard drive is just a back up with all your music and videos, then it will be fine, but by all means check it out with a good virus detector first. It will never hurt to be careful.
