address bar

A stupid question I know, but as someone who's pretty useless with computers I'd appreciate some help.

I want to get rid of the stored websites in the address bar. It's not so much the histroy files or temp internet files I want rid of, though I've tried that to see if it works, I just find it annoying with different site names appearing when I'm entering another site's address. I've tried deleting history and temp internet files using the tools>internet options function and tried deleting them manually but the old sites still remain in the address bar.

I don't know whether it's a feature that can be turned off or whether it requires me to always delete certain files.

thanks in advance.

I take it your using Internet Explorer, to do this open up IE and click on TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, then click the button that says "clear history", that should sort you out. If your using firefoc then click on TOOLS, OPTIONS, PRIVACY, than click "clear" on the option that says "CACHE".

Hope this helps, dragon2309

I just went into IE and did exactly the instructions i posted earlier, and it works fine. Do them again and follow exactly. Then shutdown IE and reboot.

if not scan with adaware and delete all the things it brings up even the non critical files that seems to work to

EDIT: i think there called mru files in adaware

tools->internet options->content->autocomplete->untick web addresses

then in the same place, click clear forms.

then erase history

it will, i think, keep coming up, so you will have to erase/not have the history on there
