Administrator password?

(Sorry if this is in the wrong section.)

Yesterday when I started my computer, I got the message while booting saying that the comp could not be started since the file hal.dll did not exist.

I have tried starting the comp with the Windows XP installation disk, and I have tried choosing the "Repair" option. However, I need the "Administrator password" to do this. The problem is, I don't know my "Administrator password". I tried the password to my account, which is an administrator account, but it didn't work. I tried all the other administrator accounts as well (there are 3).

What is the Administrator password? Am I supposed to have chosen one myself, because I can't remember? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Obviously, I do not have access to the Control Panel or any files on the computer as I can't even boot it.

I am pretty sure that whoever installed windows on your computer should have set it. If you can't figure it out try password or just leave it blank. But I know that when I installed windows on my laptop, I set the admin password.

The thing is, a service guy at the store was the one who installed Windows on the machine last time. (It's been done several times, we've had it for a few years.) I was thinking about taking it back there and see if they can fix it.

I have tried to leave it blank, and the CMD didn't say it was wrong, but when I try to restore the hal.dll to system32 via the command prompt, it says "access denied" so I'm not sure.
