Adobe DLM is pissing me off

Whenever I open Firefox, or open a new window, Adobe download manager feels the need to open itself, triggering UAC in the process. I can't figure out how to stop it, and it's freakin' annoying. Doesn't happen in other browsers, and as far as I can tell it doesn't download anything.

Tried...when I do that I get an error saying a related file couldn't be found, again when I open a new window.

I cannot wait for the day when an up and coming company does not get bought out by Adobe and actually gives them competition. Adobe products are so bloated these days, and their software has all become mediocre.

The problem is, every time a company comes out with any good competition Adobe just buys them out, instead of improving their own products.

Do you have AIR installed or Adobe Reader? They have self healing options that trigger Adobe Updater. It is super annoying.

Photoshop is probably their best product. However, Adobe products are bloated and they install files all over the place. They don't really improve their products as much as they just buy out their competition.

Won't argue with you there :/

I have both PDF reader and AIR...

I'd just switch to Opera if it didn't fail at flash menus...I use my webcam and mic a lot

Try turning off all the update settings in Air and Reader, they tend to be the most annoying. Maybe it will quit spamming you to update.

That's the thing, it's not asking me to update anything...it's just opening the DL manager. It doesn't even look like it opens fully...some of the skin is missing.

Your problem starts when you updated Adobe Flash. I just had the same problem and it is very easy to get around. Click on Tools>Addon in firefox. You will see Adobe DLM there. Disable it and the problem goes away. I suppose one could also uninstall Adobe flash and that may have some effect on it. Easiest way for now is to disable it until a permanent fix is available. Another case of Adobe installing something under the guise of an upgrade.

There is also browser integration in Adobe reader, that allows it to view PDFs with in your web browser. It should be an option under the Internet Settings in the Adobe Reader preferences. Un check the box that integrates browser support.

I actually like the browser integration for PDF's :/

Mine doesn't show anything but acrobat in the addons menu...?

Seems to have stopped now...wtf? Didn't change anything. Only difference is that I have XP mode open...
