PDF is PORTABLE DOCUMENT FORMAT.
PDF is better for mailing etc, from what i know it can somehow get smaller than word.
Like if u have a huge excel file with lots of sheets you can manage it and make it smaller than the current file it was in excel and besides it's adobes so u can import it to photoshop (corel draw also) also and do all kinds on crap with it.
