Ads by Google-How the H*** do you get rid of them?

It's when things like this that really p***es me off about computer. I get on a website and ads appear and there is no way to click an X to get rid of them!! On everyone one of these it say's "Ads by Google" and no matter what you do they don't go away and they won't allow you to view the information that's on the website. Is there someway a person can get rid of these ad's? Don't mind the ads if I can click on a "X" to get rid of them but this is crap.

AdBlock Plus on Firefox, AdBlock on Chrome, and search for ads in Opera's extensions.
Dunno about Safari.
Did I cover any of your browsers? :D:P

You could also try NoScript.

Its an add-on that stops java, JavaScript, Flash, Silverlight and tons of other plug-ins from being able to run unless you choose to allow them (you can alllow scripts temporarily or permanently). It has quite a few other features and is really heavy on safety, I absolutely will not surf without this add-on.

You can disable all the google mess like the analytics and syndication scripts. Not to mention all the other "extras" you find floating around like doubleclick, quantserve.com, flattr.com, and more.

You wouldn't believe how much is happening in the background of sites you visit all the time.

I had an add-on for firefox from the firefox add-on website which allowed you to customise google, eg. block the ads showing up in the search results, and when you click an image it takes you directly to the image (rather than that page where it shows you the website the image is hosted on and you have to click another link to continue). Was called Customizegoogle or Optimizegoogle or something like that, I can't remember.
