ADSL question

i'm thinking of getting ADSL, 384/64, yeah a little slow, but hey a lot faster then 56k that i have now. my question is how much will my speed drop if i'm 3 km away from the operator? i heard that the speed starts to drop from 2.5 km, true?

wireless router with PCMCIA card and installation will cost me $34, and i will be paying $14 a month for the speed (384/64) and $10 a month for 2GB of download.

1.5Mbit is a litte too expensive ($62 a month) flat rate is $50 a month, but when the price drops i will get it :)

greetings from CROATIA

croatia (hrvatska) is just a few miles east of Italy.

yeah it's expensive as hell, the thing is that ADSL is new here (1 year) so the prices are outrageous

i would really like someone to answer my question

Sorry, it might, but prabally not enough for you to even notice it, it would be a very little differnce if at all.

I have ADSL where i live, its $45 a month for 2.5/256. So im suppose to get 2048Kbps, and i get around 2000Kbps. I live 2-2.5 miles from the telephone company (operator). So if ours is anything like yours, then it should be very close to the designated speed.

And Xycron, where do you live? it used to cost $45 a month for a ADSL 256/128Kbps connection where i live (they upgraded to 2.5/256 for free a few months ago)

and $10 a month for 2GB of download.
So you have to pay an additional $10 a month to be able to download 2GB? If so, do you only get 2GB a month? I would stick with dial-up if thats the case. lol

if you want flat rate then you have to pay extra $50 plus the speed you have (384/64 - $14, 1536/192 - $62), flat rate is a little too expensive so i'm getting a limit of 2GB a month for $10, i don't download much just browse, if you cross the 2GB limit you have to pay $4 for every 512MB you downloaded
cough* that sucks *cough

first two months the download size is unlimited for only $0,15

So is the total $24 a month or $10? Whats the lowest download limit and the cost for that? since web pages dont contain that much data.

it's $24 a month, the lowest download limit is 512MB ($4), then it's 2GB ($10), 5GB ($19), 10GB ($34) and flat rate (unlimited - $50)
