Advent 5431 laptop losing connection to network

The problem I have is that the laptop loses connection to the wireless router if it is at a distance from the router (downstairs). Two other laptops work fine when at this distance from the router.

The laptop did pick up the connection at this distance at some point although it is not now, is the wireless card on its way out or can this problem be solved another way?

I would first try updating the wireless driver, and if that don't work, you may find that changing the wireless channel on the router may give you better signal. Are there any new electrical appliances in the home that may be causing interference?

Hi there, I have tried the wireless drivers and the wireless channels on the router in the past, there are also no new electrical appliances in the home. There are two other laptops, the wireless channel should also effect the other laptops and it doesn't.

I can only think of replacing the wireless card now.
