Yeah. I'm planning on building a computer (probably later in like march or so) and I have a couple questions:
1) I could really use some advice on hardware (what/not to buy, etc...). Here are the general specifications of the computer itself
a)A machine that will be primarily used for music (mostly playing, a little recording) Info on a surround sound card would be very helpfull (more of a multitasking machine than a gaming machine, but AMD is preferred...).
b)Not very intense on gaming, like I said, more heavy on multitasking, but not a complete pussy machine.
c)I'm kinda confused on what motherboard stuff to get, does it come with the sound and graphics card(creative and nVidia preferred, respectively).
d)I know that there are alot of hard drives out there, and I've heard that the Segate ones are definitely the best, and I'm looking for roughly 300-500GB space.
e)Good DVD-RW drive, 19" flat screen monitor, case, fan, other little stuff like that.
f)Sound System is a HUGE one. Any info on a good surround sound system, that will hook up into your computer of course, somewhere between 150-400 dollars (about).
g)Is Windows Vista supposed to be all that better than XP? I heard that the media player is really good and I've heard other mixed reviews about it. Speaking of OS's, when I go to build this thing, I want to look into using Linux Dual-Boot. But, I've never used Linux (I know, I know...) and I know that there are free versions of it out there, and I would LOOOVE to know where to go and what to find that would be good (the freer, the better right?...).
Anyway, any advice that I could get would be really nice. Just advice on what/where to get it would be totally awesome. Thanks!!!
