Currently own Brother MFC 9440CN but considering the amount of printer my girlfriend and I do (both teachers) and the expense of maintaining this printer we are considering buying another. Do not get me wrong we actually love this printer and it does everything well but considering we mostly print in B/W and hardly use color we a simply annoyed by a few things. First, the cartridges are expensive ($70 - 100). Secondly, we do not appreciate that color toner is used even when we are just doing B/W. Finally, we do not like that the drum, belt, fuser have to be replaced so often at such a high cost. For example, this printer is only 7 months old. We have gone through two high yield toners (140) now the it needs a new drum (130) and all new ink (270) and next year we need to buy a new belt (125). That is $665 dollars and we only paid 500 for the all in one.
What would be a worthy B/W All in one. We are looking for something that replaces the drum everytime you change the cartridge and low overall cost. Want to stay away from Brother if possible since their overall too expensive to maintain. One all in one I have been considering is the Samsung SCX 4828 Fn but cannot seem to find any review on it.
Any other suggestions?
