Advice needed on refurbished gaming laptops

My son's much loved gaming laptop was recently broken when my young daughter spilt a drink on it. It was this model:
ACER - Nitro 5 15.6" Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 5, GTX 1650, 256 GB SSD

I can't afford to replace it with a brand new laptop, but I have been looking at refurbished gaming laptops on ebay. I can see a few there with a similar spec which can afford (about $300). This one for example:
"Fast Cheap Gaming Laptop Dell Intel 8th Gen 256GB SSD 15.6" 8GB RAM Win11 PC"

Would anyone advice against buying these products? Is there anything I should look out for?

Any advice would be gratefully received!

You don't even list if it has a dedicated video card or not. With it only costing 300 bucks I doubt it. This is already 5 years old since it's 8th gen Intel.

I would be wary of buying "refurbished" laptops on eBay. The one you quote would only be suitable for basic games as it doesn't include a dedicated video chip to improve gaming performance. Your defunct Acer does have a dedicated video chip - GTX1650
TBH you will struggle to find anything decent at $300. I had a look on best buy and this is the closest to the Acer I could find

You aren't going to find something comparable for $300.

If you can stretch to $900 this is a pretty good deal and would be an upgrade over the previous.
