Advice on building a hard drive bay?

I have a ATX mid tower steel case that I got for free. It has no bay for a hard drive. I was going to buy a expansion bay adapter, but that is just too easy and I'm just too cheap. So I tried google with no results on building a hard drive bay for a case, so anyone here have any good ideas?

Probably no one has any experience doing it. I thought someone was custom building a case but they may not come around often anymore. There should be a thread kicking around that could have some ideas in it. I think it was project darkwater.
