im trying to build something cheap i can play ps2/xbox era games on. and watch netflix movies on and browse the internet. i have a $160 budget.

so far what ive came up with is
asus p5pl2 mobo
4x 512mb ddr2 533 memory
p4 presscott (want to o.c to around 3.2 ghz)
bigger heatsink
geforce 7900 gs
cheap cd drive
250gb hdd
generic case and generic psu
this would come out to $148 with shipping and all

i want to look into amd dual cores before i order anything though.

i wouldn`t go for 4 x 512mb modules, you would be better with either 2 x 1gb sticks or one 2gb stick, leaves room for upgrade

I doubt any $160 rig is powerful enough to play xbox/ps2 games on. I assume you mean through steam, or some type of emulation? Anything above 16 bit will give you trouble. If you get a generic psu, you risk the rig dying along with it, as they aren't reliable.

i got an hp desktop with an athlon 64 3200+ and 1gb of ram for $65. i plan to upgrade to 4gb of ram and a better video card when i get payed.
