Advice on my build...

I'm doing some upgrades. I'm about to buy:
MB: http://www.asus.com.au/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=534&l4=0&model=1729&modelmenu=2
or http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=P35D3_Platinum&class=mb

CPU: Intel E6850

RAM: http://www.corsairmemory.com/_datasheets/TWIN3X2048-1800C7DF G.pdf

Wondering what people think about those motherboards in particular. Which one should I go for? I am planning on OCing FSB up to about 1600MHz and I'm pretty sure all of those components support that (given appropriate cooling etc.) - just wondering if I'm getting the best options here so I don't buy the wrong things...

Just got to find somewhere that sells that RAM in or ships to Australia too.

Thanks guys, your feedback would be much appreciated!

Thing is, I wanted to upgrade so that I'm future proofed now, while my current components are still worth something second hand.

Would it be a good idea for me to go for much cheaper DDR3 memory and still get the other 2 components so that I am future proofed and can upgrade to better memory in 6 months, as you say?

The problem is cameron, that you'll never be 100% "future proof" so why bother wasting money if you aren't going to be 100%.

Even with cheap ram isn't worth it, i'd rather wait till you really need to use DDR3

1600Mhz FSB is no trouble for these E6850... They are awesome... I have had mine at 3.74Ghz, I am scared to go higher. I am eventually gonna lap my heatsink and processor to get more out of it... When it gets older. Go for DDR2, it's not fast enough yet to see a noticeable improvement. DDR2 has latencies avg'ing at 4-4-4-12, DDR3 is like 7-7-7-20. What good is speed when it doesn't communicate that often?

I often hear ppl critise asus MB is too hot. Also, I have read an article at tomshardware about the poor overclocking ability for MSI P35 MB be4. So, IMO, I will go for a Gigabyte MB if possible.

Okay. So now I'm thinking of sticking with my DDR2 and just updating my MB and proc so I can get more out of all of the components...

How far do you think I could OC my RAM? Corsair 8500C5D... will it get up to 1333MHz to be inline with the MB and proc?

What would be a good MB to get for this?
