Advice on PC brands - looking for real quality!

Hi, need to buy a new desktop, since the one I have has melted down completely......(it's a Fujitsu Siemens, don't know if that's considered a quality brand or the contrary??)

I need to use it for "normal" internet surfing & Internet surfing....

So: if I am prepared to pay for quality, which brand should I look for - and which ones should I avoid?

(I would also prefer to get one with a lot of RAM and a fast processor, so i won't have to upgrade anytime soon.)

Will a budget of €700 get me anywhere? (I already have a good screen)

700 euros will get you plenty for your needs. Dell is good, HP is pretty good, and building your own comp is always good! Make sure to come and buy ur computer here in the US. That way ur 700 euros turn into 1400 dollars!!

I just recently got a Gateway LX6810, and 100% recommend it, if you don't want to build. This has a Intel Quad Core processor @ 2.33 GHz, and 8GB of DDR2 RAM. Also comes with a 640GB hard drive, and even a NVIDIA GeForce 120 1GB card (not the best, but better than most on retail comps i've seen anyway).

The best part of all is it is easily upgradeable. Not a bunch of proprietary stuff from what i've seen.

Please explain how?
+1

I've had to fix more Dell computers than any other brand.

I've worked on 5 of them, and two of them had bugs in the
boards that could not be fixed. =( Strange...

(Maybe the newer ones are better. These were all Dimension PC's)
