advice on this potential computer

Hello I am wanting to buy a new computer but I need some advice. I have no real knowledge on computers. I emailed a local computer store who makes computers and told them that I want something which can handle the basics (word processing internet etc) and also microsoft flight sim a century of flight. They said that I should look for a ASUS P5K motherboard, 4GB of CL4 ram, dual core E6750 or E8400 an nvidia 8600 video card. How does this sound? I realise I will need to buy windows and a monitor but what do you all think? I am not a hard core gamer I just want something which will enable me to fully enjoy flight sim. I had a pentium 4 and if I tried playing the flight sim on even moderate settings it would be really jumpy so with this one I would like to play it on high settings. Thanks for any advice.:)

I dont think you will need 4gb of ram unless you will be running 64bit os. Also, the 8600 card will do and is a decent card. I recommend that you get the xfx 8600gt xxx zalman ed.

Nice recommendation but if you would like to spend a bit more and future proof your graphics card i would recommend the XFX or Zotac 8800Gt :)

Zotac : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500007
XFX (Also comes with free game) : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150252

Thats quite a comfortable budget i will post a list of good components in a minute. :) This is only for flight sim and video editing or something of that sort i presume ? :)

Intel E8400 259.99 (or Q6600)
Gigabyte GA-EX38-DS4 206.99
Corsair XMS2 2x1gb 53.00 -25$ MIR
Seagate 7200.11 500gb 109.99
Gigabyte 3870HD 179.99
Lite-on DVD burner 25.49
Corsair 550VX 99.99 -20$ MIR
CM Centurion 5 49.99

Windows Vista ~ 120$
Total = 1055.44 - 45$ MIR = 1010.44

Oops forgot the monitor, so here it is
Acer 22" LCD 219.99

Total with monitor = 1275.43 - 45$ MIR = 1230.43

So its slightly over budget, but its possible to cut on a few things if needed.
I would advise against SLI as what you do doesn't seem to be that graphic intense, if your current GPU doesn't do the job anymore, get a new one that will be more powerful than 2 current ones in SLI.
