Advice needed, this is my computer and i want to play some games and i dont know if it is man enough.

Compaq.
Intel Pentium D915 Dualcore Processor
2.8 ghz,800 mhz FSB,2x2mb cache
3 GB DDR2 RAM
160 GB Hard Disk
512 mb N VIDIA GEFORCE 7500LE

I dont no anything about computers so please take that into account when replying.
:)

Now am not at gamer at all but the Nvidia 7 series is out of date. No really i mean Nvidia is now in the 9 series so if you have a bit of cash buy at least a 8800GT it will last you for a while.

Whilst you do have the space, the ram and the CPU for performance but that GFX card is not what you would want for gaming. It is decent yes you might run a few games but on minimal settings

also it depends what kinds of games you are going to run, that really matters to your graphics card

Patrickv,as i said i know nothing about computers,so is GFX card my Nvidia 7500le.
Also i have read on here that a motherboard may be needed.
Games i want to play are games like COD World at War,Farcry 2,Crysis.
I like FPS war games.:)

Patrickv, will the 8800GT fit straight into my computer, also looking at some on e-bay they had,512mb,320mb,640mb what would you recommend, cheers.

you might opt for the 512.
but do check your motherboard manual if your board supports PCI-E 2.0

Patrickv morning, dont have a manual on my computer or motherboard and dont know where to look.
My computer was a refurbished one from PC World and there were no manuals with it.
I forgot to say that i have Vista Home Premium if that makes a diff.

so basically you don't know the model of your mobo.
You can still plays some games at minimal or medium settings with the 7500 if you want to avoid the hassles of a new board.
download cpuz from here and to the "mainboard" tab.
It will give you details about your mobo.
Alternatively open your pc and take a look at your model on the board itself then google it for more details.

since we really don't know your model i could assume it's PCI-E.so a Ge-Force 8400GS could do

Main Circuit Board,ASUSTek Computer INC. LEONITE 5.00.
Is that the motherboard if so do you need any more info on it.
I would like to thank you for your time and trouble in helping me out,cheers.Russ.:)

tried searching for that model of yours on Asus but nothing found, google rendered me with PCI-E. so you should buy a card that's PCI-E compliant.
Not too sure your mobo will suport the 8800GT though. am a dig in more
give me the exact model of the compaq please
