Advice required on laptop choice

I need to replace my husband's laptop which was a 5 year old Asus and I've narrowed the choice down to 2 different laptops and wonder if I could ask you which you consider to be the better one.
Acer Aspire E5-573 i5-5200U 2.2GHz 500 HDD 4GB RAM 15.6" screen running Windows 10 £349.98. or
HP Pavilion 15 i3-5157U 8GB Mem 1TB 15.6" screen £349
I've copied the spec exactly as it was written, the Acer is on the ebuyer website and the HP was on their own site.
 
Unfortunately, I hate HP's but would recommend the HP as it has more ram, faster processor and bigger HDD.
 
Thank you Johnb35, I have now narrowed it down even more to the HP Pavilion 15 at Currys at £349 which has the i3-5157U 2.5 GHz spec or the HP 250 G4 on ebuyer.com at £269 which has the i3-5005U 2GHz spec. All he does is look at boats for sale and ebay and generally surfs the web. Unfortunately I broke his last one by knocking it off the worktop so I am desperately trying to get him a decent replacement. I really appreciate your advice, thank you.
 
I would get 8gb of ram for sure. The extra 4gb helps out tremendously. If he doesn't store a lot of pictures or music then he really doesn't need more than 500gb of hard drive space.
 
For £350, you should be able to get i5 6200u

Going on the spec that I have shown, does it tell you one processor is better than the other one please? This was my response to Johnb35. Thank you for your assistance Cisco001 but I am trying to clarify which of the 2 HP laptops is the better buy, I have been advised against Lenovo.

If you can find an I5 processor over 2.0ghz with 8gb of ram and a 500gb hard drive then get it. For what he does, a dual core cpu should work but if it was me would get a quad core just for extra speed.
 
i5 faster than i3.

Personally Would get hp 450 due to it maintenance hatch.
