Advice

How come it seems AMDs have slow operating speeds. Is that accurate or is there something I'm missing. I need something better than 1.8 ghz to run Half-Life 2.

Help?

:-) someone needs to research AMD. A 1.8 AMD chip is "aproximatly" equal to a 2.4ghz Intel.

depends on what product lines you looking at.
Current processors: AMD
Significantly-older-processors: Intel

That is what the #'s are for, AMD A64 3400 = Intel 3.4GHz
WTF? How about the A64-4000? Naturally that logic fails as Intel doesnt have 4.0GHz chip.

Good FSB is good, too

I really like that 3.4CEE with the 2MB L3 cache and the 2GHz FSB
2GHz FSB....uh....no. The FSB on the 1066bus boards is 266. Now if you can find a board/processor from intel sporting a 2GHz FSB (that would come out to 8GHz BUS  ) I would really like to see/steal it :)

Never mind, I got confused. The 3.4CEE has 800MHz fsb, 2MB L3 cache. The fx-55 has the 2ghz fsb:cool:
