Hello People:

I would like to know what is the problem if any, when my nephew shuts off is computer (Shuts Down). That his Laser mouse is still lit up. Is it possible to have some type of power residue in the system to make this happen.

Thank you all in advance, I really enjoy reading this Forum.:)

The mouse shouldn't stay lit up unless power is being supplied. Make sure that he is shutting down and not going into hibernate, or sleep mode.

Thank you for quick answer, it is ps2 and my nephew doesn't know computers that much so it bothers him. I told him about what you have said before I posted the question. Just want to touch base with you all about it. My old keyboard did the same thing till I shut the main power supply switch off, also.

Power still is being fed to the computer when it's off, I've had my mouse/keyboard stay lit up at times, as well as being able to charge devices via the USB ports.

Yeah, this depends on the motherboard though. Not all systems will supply power to the USB ports after soft-power down. Some are switchable in the BIOS. Most will still supply power to the PS-2 ports (if they have them). The reason for this is to allow you to power on (not just wake) the computer by pressing a key on the keyboard or even just clicking a mouse button.
