So upgrading my old 32 bit dinosaur system at last, and after some great input here is what I have so far, current total is 729.93 from Tiger, just a final check to make sure I don't have any "holes" in my system...
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 OEM (maybe in 2-3 years i'll get vista, if they ever get it fully debugged)

Vid Card: XFX GeForce 8600 GT XXX Video Card - 256MB DDR3, SLI Ready, PCI Express, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, Video Card (was wondering if getting a 512 card would be better or not but this is much cheaper.lol)
Ram: Kingston Dual Channel HyperX 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz LL Memory (2 x 1024MB) -only getting this 1x for now, probably going to buy a second set of this ram for the other 2 slots in the near future
Drive:Lite-On LH-20A1L-06 SuperAllwrite OEM Lightscribe DVD Burner - 20x DVD±R Burn, 16x DVD±R Read, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 8x DVD±R DL, 12x DVD-RAM, 48x24x CD-R/RW, Black, SATA, No Software (already better software than the more expensive drive+software bundle so ya..)
Already have a Seagate 250gig 7200 rpm hard drive, so anything I'm missing?
Oh, some discs for the burner and shipping already added into the grand total for this, planning on a new flatscreen later and some drive expansion (backup) and maybe another hard drive later, but this is just the "barebones" basic
