i hav the game on one computer and it works perfectly... but then i tried to play on my older computer Compaq Presario 5000 but it doest work... well it can get to the main screen and stuff BUT when i actually play the game and it gets to "start game" the computer either; A. Freeze and randomly go back to my desktop or B. the screen goes black with little green bars on the top of the screen..... i checked the game requirements for playing it and theres nothing im missing.... so wats the problem???

Have you tried reinstalling/disk checkup? Usually it's just a corrupted file that causes things to suddenly get messed up.
To run checkdisk, go to (My) Computer, right-click the drive you want to scan (the one that the game is installed on, if it's not C: drive then scan C: as well), and go to the "Tools" tab. Click the "Check Now" button; in the windows that comes up, check "Automatically fix file system errors" and then hit "Start". This is the procedure for XP, it's quite similar to that of Vista.
Oh, I just checked the specs... you're running ME right? In that case, you'll need to use the ScanDisk tool to fix the drives up.
If the above doesn't do it, re-install the game and see if that does it.
What edition is it... the original or the collectors edition? Is it just plain AOE2 or the Expansion?
