AGP Question

I have a ASUS A7N8X-X motherboard. It's about 3 years old and my graphics card went out. I was just wondering if a nvidia e-GeForce 5500 will work with it. It says on the graphics card box that it is AGP 2.0 and my board is AGP8X. Not too sure if it is even an issue. Thanks in advance for your help.

First of all you need a Welcome to the Computer Forum! http://www.computerforum.com/70672-official-welcome-thread.html Please take to review the http://www.computerforum.com/52038-forum-rules.html

That Asus model will easily run that older AGP model or some even older like the GeForce FX5200s. The 2.0 seen on the side of the box is a good thing since the earlier 1.1 versions wouldn't be supported without software patches for some if they worked at all. You would be far better off going with a much newer model card that still sees support and updates however.

This is just a temp. fix until i scrape together some money for a complete system upgrade. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.

For a temp card you would be far better off with either a later ATI model above the Radeon 9600 or an NVidia 7000 series card isnce there are still some driver updates available or found. Those can be found for low prices at this time by simply browsing different vendors trying to clear them out.
