and I'd suggest seriously considering anything at all but alienware, my friend has one of their laptops and had a serious pain in the ass with them for over two months trying to get it fixed, everything kept breaking on it and he's by no means computer stupid. First the processor started getting really hot, and by really hot I mean 83 degrees. Shortly thereafter, his motherboard went bad (no question why). So he shipped it in to them and didn't get it back for 7 weeks. He tried it out and the graphics sucked so he ran 3DMark03 and got scores around 1800, clearly a problem. He called them about it and they said that it was normal, stating that all Alienwares meeting some specified scores were fine (supposedly 1800 on 03 was high enough, they never would tell him the cutoff score). They said that since he was "rushing them" they didn't have enough time to do a thorough job, and they also tried blaming it on a hurricane (couldn't figure that one out for the life of me) and this is all after 7 weeks of them having the laptop. A couple days later, the card that controls the lighting of the screen went out (forgot the name, want to say inverter board but not sure). So he called them back to complain about this as well. They said they would have a technician come out and fix the screen, but refused to do anything about the video card. The technician came like 2 weeks later and installed the card, but still no graphics. So he had his mother threaten to sue and all sorts of other stuff and he finally got a new video card in the mail a week or two later. Now it works fine, though it took almost 3 months for that to happen. And btw, they didn't extend his warranty for the time they had it either.
