All of a sudden really slow

Hello,
I've got a computer my brother custom made. The mother board is a P5n-d.
It's got 3 gigs of ram, running on 32 bit, and am on Windows 7.
About a month ago it was running alright. It was pretty fast, and I didn't usually have errors. Then, I made a huge mistake. I downloaded a free registry program, ran that and had almost a thousand errors (I believe), and that screwed it up. Everything was all messed up on my computer. I'm a musician, so when I ran my software, it wasn't working good at all. Same with all the other programs.
Long story short, I formatted my computer and it is pretty much exactly the same, except maybe even worse.
Also, I've had many gigs and don't have a good laptop for my music, so I've brought my desktop everytime. Meaning it's been moved quite a lot, so I don't know if that's why it's been slow. (It wasn't slow before I started moving it a lot) Not only that, but my power also completely shuts off at random times. The power is hooked up good, so it's not coming lose. And also sometimes my PC will boot up and give me a NVIDA graphics card error saying it may not be plugged in right. So bottom line, I will be opening my computer and taking a look at things.
Anyway, what I need help with is how can I speed my computer up like it was? (Remember, I formatted it as well and didn't change a thing. Though, it kept my windows old folder so...)

I'm not too smart with computers as far as this goes, lol.
Anyway, thanks a lot and if you need to know anything, feel free to ask.

Also, sorry if I posted this in the wrong category - I wasn't quite sure which one to post it in.

If you have a windows.OLD folder, you didn't do a format and install. You need to do a fresh install by deleting the existing partitions and redoing it. Backup any data you need cause when you do this you will lose all data on the drive.

NEVER, EVER download a registry program other than ccleaner. Most registry programs you download off the net either are rogue programs or come bundled with malware and technically you really don't need a registry cleaner.
