Alternative for Adobe InDesign

Hey guys, Im doing some work that includes laying out stuff in a brochure and I think I need some proper software for this. Any good alternatives to InDesign that anyone could point me to? I know Gimp and those kind of free ones but they apparently mainly for Photoshop kind of stuff, retouching etc.

Seems like its more for forms than doing layouts...? I'm looking for something that can create print ready files. The brochure is going to be printed and the they (print24) need a pdf file with high resolution and right colour settings and what not. I think Ill try this open source free one called Scribus? Any other suggestions please let me know.

I say it will it will work. Size wont make no diff or and both sides. ya have complete control of layout. give it a try.
