Alternative to Adobe Acrobat?

I would like to be able to create and work on pdf files, but I don't want to use Adobe Acrobat (way too huge of a program and way to huge of a price).

From looking around, it seems that NitroPDF is a very nice program. What else is out there that you guys would recommend? I'm not just looking for a pdf printer driver, I actually want to work on and edit pdf files.

I use foxit and so far have not had a single problem out of it.
