AM2 4400+ max overclock.

i currently have a 4400+ AM2 in my dell optiplex 740 i would like to know whats the farthest and safest setting meaning what ghz its stock at 2.3 ghz i have it at 2.5ghz now.

on non-BE AM2 dual cores the average is a 300 overclock. i had my 4000+ (2.1ghz) at 2.38ghz, and my friend has his 5000 at 2.9ghz (stock 2.6)

I could get mine prime stable @ 2.8ghz but the second the PC powered down for 5 mins or more it would refuse to post.

Did the same even @ 2.4ghz and 2.5ghz.


This was a X2 4400+ AM2 Brisbane

im leaving it at 2.5ghz im upgrading to a 6400+ black edition @ 3.1ghz 2MB cache pretty soon

I would say get the 7750 and OC to 3.2ghz its newer and 3mb cache and it costs less since there is no BE for 6400+.

1) try not to call people 'nub's on here. especially if there (at least somewhat) respected members
2) the 6400+ BE was 90nm Windsor, sucked at overclocking, had 125w TDP, and was an all around shitty chip. that's why it's discontinued. the 7750 @ 2.7ghz would probably perform , not overclocked, on par with a stock 6400 BE.

i got my 4400+ to 2.7ghz and its very stable.BUT everytime i power down my system it resets.why?

how did you determine that it was stable? download Orthos and run that for a few hours to really know that its stable. about 1-2hrs should do.
