Amazing It Even Runs

I remember a few years ago reading in Maximum PC (Rig of the Month) about a guy who multi-booted something like 32 Operating Systems on 1 computer (5 HD's I think)

It got me to thinking it would be neat to hear other stories of amazing, daring, or just plain stupid accounts of the hardware or software ran under the most incredible odds...

Here's mine:

On my last computer I had a 250w power supply and I ran the following...

2 IDE Hard drives
2 Sticks of RAM
256MB AGP Graphics Card
PCI Sound Card
PCI Ethernet Card
PCI USB Card
IDE Optical Drive
Floppy Drive
Mouse and Keyboard (Obviously)

And it ran completely STABLE! Never had a problem.

a crappy HP i had some 7 years ago had an 80w power supply and ran the following...

7gb and a 30gb ide hard drives
a cd-rw
a dvd player
2 sticks of ram totalling 256mb ram
PCI Sound card
PCI GeForce 2 - 64mb
PCI Ethernet card
floppy drive
mouse and keyboard of course

worked fine for over a year, then the power supply died and we replaced it with a 250watt.

When i first built my rig in my sig, i had some cheapo 500W PSU. It didnt work, so i had to wait for the new one to come in. At the same time, i had just got a USB-IDE adapter for my HDDs i had sitting around, and it came with a power adapter (plug in wall to Molex). I think it is 50W. My HDD in my computer had both the molex plug and the SATA one. One day i was bored as hell and i decided to plug in the HDD power supply to the HDD to see if it would spin. I neglected to unplug the SATA connector to my bad PSU. I plugged it in and got the suprise of my life- the HDD started spinning, and then the PSU 120mm fan and the LED came on, and then all my cold cathodes lit up and the fans all started spinning. I powered the computer in my sig with a 50W MOLEX PSU. It didnt boot though, it just made everything spin.

how's this possible ?..i can't believe this. and what's the 32 Os ? if so he must had been using raid on his system but then again it will be possible to dual boot, 32 os's,i still cant believe it. sorry i just can't

whats not to believe? its as easy as installing one os and you woulden't need raid, or even mutlipe hard drives.

just take 1 500 gb hard drive, partition it into 100 5gb drives, isntall windows xp on each 5gb partition.
a week later you'll have a pc that can duel boot with 100 OSs.

simple, easy enough for anybody with lots of time to do, and absolutly no point to it
its nothing spactacular or special at all.
