Well the voltage on this thing is messed up. It is at 1.425 and I cant undervolt it with my motherboard. I have seen this problem with this processor before. Is there anything I can do? Max temps on prime 95 hit 60c

60 degrees Celsius is getting close to the hot zone. Isn't around 70 degrees Celsius the danger zone for this Athlon processor?

Yes, but there's a huge difference between 60 and 70 degrees Celsius.

To the OP, are you running the stock cooler? Do you have the right paste and amount? Case air flow?

Yes I need to put new paste on it BUT the max for that processor is 61c its the 65nm version...whats making it hot is the fact its being overvolted....

If your board has it running a 1.425V at stock setting, it sound like you need to update the bios. Sure you have the right bios for the processor? Thats more voltage then the old Windsor 6000 defaulted too.

Well I need to re-do the therpaste and its a new board that is am2/am2+/am3 so I don't think It would be the bios but idk....

Get a new cooler. I mean, come on, it's only $30 or so and it's a good investment. Sounds like your mobo might not be the best for that CPU, but what's done is done. Get the cooler--Xigmatek S1283 is by far the better buy for just a little more, and it'll be great for quads, too (whereas the Arctic Freezer is more for duals and not so great for future upgrades).
