AMD 64 4000+ vs INTEL P4 3.4

Hey just a question, would the AMD 64 4000+ or a comparable X2 processor be better than the P4 3.4 HT for gaming? because I have a P4 3.4HT right now but I could potentially buy a new one if this is the case. Or just upgrade this one..

or the 3800+. its just as o/cable really.
set a ddr333 divider and a htt multiplier of 4, with an fsb of 240 and you've got a free 400mhz. (roughly 4600+ speeds)
i've never heard of an X2 2.4ghz or below that needed more than stock voltage.
got mine to be faster than a 4800+ though :)

but I thought that dual core wasn't good for gaming because of the split of work?
So Fade, you say the single core 64?

whilst i dont know the specific details of your rig I feel confident in saying that the improvement in current games is not worth the expense. Your money will probably be better spent on your gpu rather than your cpu, motherboard expense not withstanding.
Amd is well known to hold the crown in gaming at the moment, but the delta between those 2 chips is not groundbreaking, and i nothing that a cheaper to implement graphics upgrade wouldn't match.

agreed... especially at the price a 4000+ comes at, or a 3800+
i would suggest upgrading if you had like a celeron 2.53ghz or something of the sort, but a P4 3.4ghz should do just fine. a new graphics card will help you out alot more in my opinion.

i o/ced my 3800+ to higher than 4800+ speeds. if they end up with the same o/c then the 3800+ was better... why you ask? because it costs less. :)
