AMD 64 FX CPU and DDR2 compatible motherboard

Hey, I've been looking around and plan on purchasing an AMD 64 FX-55 CPU, and I have seen many motherboards compatible with it. My problem is that I also would like to buy DDR2 memory for my computer, but I have not found a motherboard that supports both. If anyone knows of any, please tell me. I prefer ASUS, but I would like to see any. Thank you.

amd only has dual channel and does not yet support ddr2.

Thats probably one of the only drawbacks of getting an AMD system now, it doesnt support future proof RAM (DDR II), lets face it DDR400 is getting a bit old now.

ddr2 isn't all that big of a deal. its increased bandwidth just causes increased latency. probably the best thing out of it is less power usage.

yeah i would get it and just dual channel some DDR400. Yes, thats what I ment in my first post, but I was tired then it was early in the morning haha.

Well amd may never go the ddr2 route at all. The may just move onto ddr3 or even xdr

there wasn't DDR2 in 'system RAM' form until recently, it only appeared on a few video cards originally

Yep, i read that article on amd planning to skip DDR2 and move on to DDR3 with its next memory controller. There's no performance increase in DDR2 that AMD needs to modify its memory controller, so until its needed, why change what works?

i read different.

Hack Jandy writes "According to Anandtech, AMD has already developed a new processor lineup for Athlon 64 processors with DDR2. The article states that internal AMD roadmaps indicate the processors should debut early next year and will require a new 1207 pin socket."

AMD has changed their minds about adding DDR2 support a lot, I think the most recent change was to include it again.

You make it sound like DDR400 isnt as good as DDR2

PC3200 is still amazingly popular. I see alot of people with Athlon XP CPU's buying PC4000 and up, when they can't even run it past DDR333 specs lmao. Until Socket A and older is totally phased out PC3200 will still be popular i think.

what about the new 600mhz geil memory? i read a review about some preview of the memory being used on an amd system. its ddr1

same thing with DDR3 its in video cards, it will prabally be used for system ram soon though.
After DDRII started to confuse people the industry prefixed video memory with the letter G and system memory without that. As such, GDDR3 memory is on videocards and if ever, DDR3 will be on systems

Yeah but it needs 3 volts to run @ 600
Mushkin Redline. Voltage Be Damned. :P :D
