AMD 64 vs 64x2

I am planning on getting a new cpu and motherboard. ive looked at a few different cpu's and the amd athlon 64 and the 64x2 are what im thinking on getting. i cant realy decide on one though. I am mostly going to use my computer for gaming and watching movies.

also if anyone has any ideas on a motherboard that would be helpful. ive had some bad experience with gigabyte so i would probably not like that. also it needs to be regular DDR and use AGP 8x
 
I have the 3700+ in my HP and im very happy with it. It kicks P4's ass though for only about $100 more the X-2 is like 2 processors in one "Duel Core" so I would get the X-2.
 
you can geta athlon 64 4000 for the price of the 3800 x2 but i still would go w/ the x2 more future safe
 
Multi-threaded games will come out in a little while im sure, but for the mean time the X2 will perform better when your using windows with several apps running at the same time, so its not like you have to wait a year in order to see some performance increases with a dual core.
