I have overclocked the processor to 3.15ghz, but I can't get it up more than that. computer is unstable when I put it up to 3.25ghz. I ordered zalman cpu cooler with artic silver 5 thermal paste (i will get this today). How can I OC the processor further? Is it unstable because of the temperature? now it idles at about 42 degrees and 47-52 degrees when playing games. Does memory have to do be timed differently if I would like the cpu OCed? I am very amateur at computer. THank you in advance.

you should go slowly, not jump 100Mhz at a time, it may be unstable when you jump too quick, but in my experience, when I jumped too quick and jumped back, then slowly went back, it was stable. do a 20MHz max jump at a time. a better HSF with 50+ CFM and AS5 should help some, maybe some case fans and water cooling?

Depending on the core of that X2-60 You may not be able to go much further than that. The best AMD core that i'm aware of is the San Diego core.. Able to reach 3.2 with adequate cooling and abit of luck.

I'm still interested in how far you can push it, Post the final Overclock :)

i just installed the zalmann 9500 cpu cooler with artic silver 5, and it cools the cpu about 6-7 degrees celsius. I was expecting more, but it is a huge gain. i OCed the cpu to 3.21ghz, and I read it on the web that cpu is pretty much maxed when it hits 3.21ghz. I am happy with my system, and I am totally satisfied.

The 6000+ cpu's come stock at 3.0ghz (basically about clocked to its max factory)...the 5200/5600+ can only get around 3.2ish too. Never hurts to get a better cooler though :P
