you know you can get amd64 4000 model but thats £500 nearly, and the 3500 is £200 i was wondering if any new models of the amd64 are going to come out then the new amd64 4000 will come down in price and be the same as the 3500 price tag, do you guys know if a new one is coming out, do you think i should wait or buy one now.

after x-mas the prices should drop on all there processors, especially there XP line. I'd wait till then to shop...i dunno about any newer models though.

Assuming AthlonXPs are still around by then ... they've all but dissapeared where I usually hunt around.

Gone? I see them all over the web, specially the mobiles. The lower desktop models are gone...but 2400+ and up i see alot. lol people are still running 1700+ JIUHB's at like 2.3GHz, so old skool.

1. I dont buy stuff online ... too expensive.
2. There's also the issue of "finding an AthlonXP from an online vendor ... who will ship to Canada"

Well the Semprons are the only choice and for all intents and purposes, are just remarked TBredBs

Yeah, but as far as I know, my CPU still works, luckily (think I'm in love with the little bastard). I'd hate to get a new one when I know how good it is.

I'm sure Semprons are great and all. Since it IS the only choice should my CPU burn, explode or immigrate, I would get one. But I still don't understand "TBredB". :p

Yeah, you've told me, actually, but what's so special about it, if anything at all?
(No, don't answer that. Rethorical question; I really don't care :p)

When I said that I meant both. It's just that I dont ever peruse online stores other than Newegg/FrozenCPU/Xoxide and a few others for very specific parts and to get a feel for what is "out there"

LOL thats all I shop at mostly heehee ... there are many benifits of having a working relationship with an actual store that online shopping will never have :P

well yah, but i imagine alot of those places are mom and pop shops. i got none of those here. if i was able to get a deal with someone at a store (my friend works at bestbuy now) it would be illegal lmao. i shoot for free computers though (got 3 now :) )
