The 970 runs at 3.5 Gigs and is a quad and the 1090T runs at 3.2 Gigs and has 6 cores but I don't think the extra 2 cores at worst having so which one would be the best one and why?

Depends on what you're doing. Most applications do not use 6 cores so the 970 will be faster for those applications (at stock speed)

Neither, a 955 would be your best option.

You don't need 6 cores, a quad core is plenty, and you can change the multiplier of the 955 to x17.5, and hey presto, it is a 970, but for much less.

To change the multiplier, you have to go into your BIOS and there will be a section to change it, however where that is will depend on your motherboard and BIOS version

That is what I thought but wasn't sure. It makes since. I almost bought the thing today but like you said I could use another $50 in my pocket.
Thanks
