on my other PC that has been going very slow for a while(i blamed it on stuff my sister kept downlaoding on to my PC........thats why i havn't looked at anything here, i thought 'i'm not upgrading it anymore since i dont use it much and she made it way worse anyways)

I thought i would at least just OC it a little to make it go a little bit faster. but when ii got into the BIO's it said the CPU and the RAM were both running at 100mhz. and I wasn't even able to OC that.how did it get l;ike that and how do i change it back?(i still blame it on my sister.it was fine when i left it one time lol)

What is your motherboard and what cpu do you have.(model name)

My guess then is it a athlon 'b' 1200mhz and the 100 you seeing in the bios is the FSB. As for overclocking it proberly a OEM board that dont support overclocking. That what I would guess with out knowing the exact cpu and motherboard.

Edit: stupid me did not notice you posted the motherboard. did you buy that motherboard yourself or is it what it came with?

that came with it, i have the same motherbored on my other PC too and i can voer clock on that. and the bio's for the CPU are the some on my other OC too but on my other PC it says 1333Mhz and on this one in the same spot it says 100mhz.

whats the FSB?

FSB=front side bus which is the speed which your processor interacts with the components on the motherboard. The only reason I guessed the 100 was FSB is becuase there is a number of athlons with a 100fsb. Are you sure the bios are the same on the two motherboards. If you bought one your self it proberly a retail one. The one that came with the computer might be the OEM version which lots of time have bios which dont allow overclocking.

both of them came with the PC and i havn;'t done anything to it. Although i am ghetting rid of the one(not on this PC but the otherone) i already have a new MB for that, i just though i would get the new CPU and install them at the same time.
but i dont think it would be the FSB since they are the same buti guess its possible...

as i have said before im not to good with software and running the PC as like building it. how do you update the bio's? haha.....

You might wanna brush up a bit before you dabble too much with overclocking

the MS is a ESC k7s5A 1.0 more info about the MS here
MS?

Ok for the record, what CPU exactly do you (or should you) have installed??

i ment MB i made the same type twice in a row. for the CPU on this PC i really dont know thats the sad part. its a AMD athlon that is suposto run at 1.2Ghz but im not sure witch one. this was a PC i bought a long long time ago and never really upgraded.
