I was either thinking of getting a amd athlon 64 4400x2 and a 7800gt or a amd athlon 64 3800 x2 and a 7800gtx what do you think?

Also where would be the cheapest place / or if some1 has some for sale to buy these?

*edit* ya x2 lol

Peoples here seem to prefer Newegg.com if ur from the US , me i like Ncix Canada... but its not well organized

Im pretty sure he means 3800 X2. If you going to get into gaming and have an SLI-Set up in the future id go with the 3800 x2 and the 7800gtx.

well if you have enough money to throw away, get x2 4400, but isn't it pretty much the same as x2 3800?
i mean its not much of a difference for couple of hundred dollers?

So your suggesting a amd athlon 64 4400x2 and a 7800gt over a amd athlon 64 3800 x2 and a 7800gtx for gaming?

ya, unless he have money to throw away;

why not x2 3800, its probabily good enough.
What are you trying to say? You just suggested the 4400 x2 and the 7800gt...and now your suggesting the x2 3800. The thing is that he has EXTRA money to spend but he wants to know what would benefit him more a x2 4400 over a x2 3800 or a 7800gtx over a 7800gt.

ohh my bet, i read the question wrong, i just thought he wanted a difference between x2 3800 and x2 4400.

well, since i read it properly, and if you want my opinion,
i would go with x2 4400 and 7800gt

and if he gets desperate to play some high end games in the future, he can still get 7800gt sli...
this would be cheap too.

I wouldnt suggest that, the x2 3800 if overclocked well can be the exact same as the 4400, and then ontop of that he gets a GTX which in my opinion is worth the extra money because of the large 10-15% performance boost and will have a better SLI potential in the future.

well, why not overclock x2 4400 and have even better performance, may be even as good as x2 4800?
Pfff....dont you know that a video card has much more effect on gaming than a cpu?

yea this guys right, your processor is going to kick a with those dual 1 mb caches, plus you can go sli 7800gt in the future once games become too much fro him to handle on his one 7800gt, which is going to be another year, year and a half. then once he goes SLI itll be another while. and im talking about max settings for these games too not just half decent graphicx.

depends on what the bottle neck will be.

The 4400 x2 with 7800gt rig will easily handle anything you throw at it with the cpu not being the bottle neck.

If you go with the 3800x2/7800gtx you cpu will be the bottlenck (albeit a high bottleneck). Anyone suggesting to move to sli with the 7800gtx in the future have not understood this.
