Hey,
I just wanted to see what adjusting the mhz( i thinks thats what it was) of my cpu from 200-220 would do...and i checked cpu-z after and it said 3.3 ghz(3299 mhz) and i restarted comp and set defaults (3.0ghz) because my temps were raised by 5 celcious(from 48-53).
is there a certain way to oc? i never have done it before. whats the safe operating temp on my cpu? i read somewhre that most intels just slow down to reduce the heat, but amds keep going till...gone. my mobo is a m2a-vm by asus.i'm using the fan/heatsink that came witht he package....thnx in advance...

edit: ima read the cpu oc sticky...thatll probaly help lol.

What cooler do you have, is 48*c idle? thats a bit warm. With a good cooler you should be able to do 3.2-3.3 stable with a small voltage increase, if any. You should up the voltage by 0.025 at a time, and use a program like prime95 (orthos) to check stability.

i'm using the the cooler, fan, heatsink that came with the processor. yes at load and idle i think its the same thng...it rarely ever goes below 46 at idle and i think at load it goes at 50 @ 3.0ghz.

that is very warm i have the 6000+ with all stock coolers an it idels at about 29-31 an when i overclocked it to 3.3 FSB from 200 to 220 it would idel at 31-33 an at load 37-39

oh...thnx for ur replies guys yea i think i might of went a lil overboard w/ the thermalpaste i applies, the side is now kept open...but would u guys know anything about if the exhaust( no fan, just a mhoneycombed hole in the back of case) should be a facing the wall? will the heat just bounce back in or what? thnx for ur repies btw

are u saying u have no rear fan? if u dont have the rear fan on your case i recommend u get 1
if it is about 10CM from the wall it should just spread across the wall not going back in to your case.

is weird that your CPU sits at about 48 cos im just using my stock cooler on my 6000+ an mine idels at about 29-32 an at load still only gets to about 38 but mabey when u get the fan at the back of your case it might cool down a bit let us know if it helped your cpu temp
your case should have come with a fan at the back of back of it

oh thnx guys...but i'm using my old s4000nx compaq case till my soprano comes in. im going to order the cooler along w/ it.
