No you cant. The only 2.6Ghz proc AMD has is the FX55 which costs a lot more than £55 ... did you mean AthlonXP 2600? If so then it will work with the moboI can buy an AMD Athlon Proccessor 2.6GHZ for £55
It worksAnyone else want to clarify that it will work with my ASUS A7N8X-X??
Now that ive had a look at the link I will tell you definitively that it is NOT a 2.6GHz processor. There is only ONE 2.6GHz processor by AMD (stock) made, the Athlon64-FX55. You can read up about it here: http://www.techwarelabs.com/reviews/processors/amd4000_fx55/ (and you can have a look at the price tag here: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-496&depa=0). The chip looks like thisPrartor, it definately was £55 and it definately was AMD Athlon.
Depends on the processor. If you have a AthlonXP-2800 (166x12) then that will work but if you have a Athlon64-3000 then no it will not work. Like i said, its more about the pin configuration than the clock speed. Your mobo supports chips with 462 pinsWill an AMD Athlon 2.0 Ghz work on my ASUS A7N8X-X?
No. AthlonXPs will work. Athlons will not (and you prolly cannot get them). Semprons (Socket462/A) will work as well.Infact, will any AMD Athlon/AMD Athlon XP work on my ASUS A7N8X-X?
