Could any members tell me the correct memory ram stick that would be suitable for the Amd Athlon (tm) motherboard.

Yes, there are 3 types of Athlon that are still commonly used:

AthlonXP (Socket A): This uses DDR memory
Athlon64 (Sockets 754 & 939): These use DDR memory also
Athlon64 (Socket AM2): This type uses DDR2 memory.

To check what socket you have, download CPU-Z from http://www.cpuid.com and see what package it is.

Once you find out if you use DDR or DDR2 memory, of what socket processor you have, then we can tell you what would be a good choice of RAM.

You forgot about the original Athlons, which came in two flavors... SlotA and SocketA. Mobos were available with DDR and older SD-RAM.

I have XP on a Pentium 4 1.4GHz with 128MB RAM and it runs well. As long as you're doing one thing at a time it really zips along quite nicely. However, multi tasking will kill it...

Athlon and AthlonXP did not have an integrated memory controller. The type of memory needed depends on the motherboard. It will be either SDRAM or DDR-SDRAM.
